When the air is touched by cold, fires and gas lamps flicker soft light throughout the main inn, two carriage houses, and outdoor grounds. The restaurant, guided by the culinary prowess of James Beard nominee Chef Bob Truitt, is worth the trip alone for dinner.

While many come to do nothing, there is plenty to do within a 10-minute drive or bike ride. Stroll streets of Victorian and Georgian architecture while shopping for antiques, designer vintage, books, art, and records at its plethora of independent boutiques in Lambertville, NJ. Take the bridge over to New Hope, PA to see a play at Bucks County Theatre, bar hop, or have lunch on the river. Enjoy the scenic drive to Frenchtown another day to immerse in the modern art scene at Art Yard and a cinematic main street lined with shops by artisans and makers specializing in pottery, yarn, gemstones, and house-poured candles.

The Inn
The original inn is home to four thoughtfully renovated guestrooms. Each designed to retain the inn’s historic charm while introducing modern amenities for a well-appointed and rejuvenating stay. Cozy gas fireplaces and finely finished marble bathrooms create an atmosphere of laidback luxury that helps guests feel right at home.
Carriage Houses
Our two carriage houses offer a total of five rooms. Just like the main inn, these neighboring buildings have been renovated for the comfort and enjoyment of the modern guest. Although you’ll no longer need space for a horse and carriage, the high ceilings remain, creating a soaring expanse where natural light can dance freely.

The Q&A: Stephanie Lisle
Stephanie Lisle carries on Stockton Inn’s centuries-long legacy of the many innkeepers who preceded her, many of whom were women. Her gentle spirit and loving, humble approach is a beacon of light for those who stop in on their travels, who plan a vacation to the beautiful Delaware River Valley, and who love to frequent the restaurant and inn.
The Q&A: Chef Bob Truitt
Despite his hard-earned pedigree, Chef Bob Truitt is humble. He evokes pride far sooner when asked a question about his sons’ choir or soccer game than when praised for an outstanding dish. His respect for his team is apparent in all he does, and it’s not uncommon to find Chef on the line sharing in various prepwork. Afterall, “team work makes the dream work,” he said while malletting hundreds of tuna filets into delicate carpaccio rounds for a special tasting menu. To get to know more about the man behind the chef’s coat, we sat down on a Tuesday morning over coffee when the inn’s first guests of the day had yet to check in and the restaurant was quiet.
